E90 won't roll

Just got the new car and I don't know if it's supposed to be this way or there is issue. Car don't want to roll, I don't know if it's sticky brake or something. Right after I let go the gas looks like it's braking slightly. I had Honda before and usually after you let go it's still rolls so you can drive in the parking spot but on 328 if you let go it feels like it just brakes, you need to keep your foot on accelerator to keep the car moving

Is it a manual transmission? It has hill assist which holds the brake while letting off the clutch. It's only for a few seconds.

It's auto. It feels more like it's just downshifting right after you let go the gas so maybe that's why it doesn't roll good

What about if you kick it to neutral? Does it roll then? Or still stops?

simplistically speaking, it's probably your brakes. Either the Parking Brake hung up, or some other fundamental problem with your brakes.

i can't imagine a scenario where the transmission is responding to something you are doing with the brake pedal at low speeds.

What you really are asking is "why doesn't my car COAST as easily as my former car".

BMW keeps the torque converter locked, and transmission in gear, so your engine brakes the car due to compression. The reason for that is performance - instant acceleration when you press on the accelerator pedal again.

Not sure about E9x, but F3x has option in Eco Pro mode to "coast".

You're right on point. That's what I was thinking, just wanted to make sure that it's normal thing, my previous car did it if I put it in overdrive.

Coming from mostly driving Hondas for the last 20+ years, I did notice that BMWs require a more deliberate effort on the accelerator pedal to move. I don't know if this is the same behavior you're describing. My 325 coasts just fine but when accelerating I really have to press on the pedal to make it move. The only prior BMWs besides mine that I have driven all behave the same, manual or auto transmission, so I think it's just a BMW thing (I've only driven the e36 318, e46 323, e60 545 SMG, my e90, and even the latest F20 118i).

Even the drive by wire Hondas require very little effort to get going and have only what I can describe as sensitive throttle response.
