Squeaking noise when reversing and driving at slow speeds

Hi,

I noticed a faint squeak when reversing 2 weeks back and it has gotten increasingly louder on my manual 325i E92 2007. It is a metallic scraping noise and sounds kinda like a brake shield having a rock lodged between it and the brake disk, but not nearly as loud.

It is directly correlated to wheel speed and disappears at higher speeds (at least I can't hear it over other noises).

It is worst when reversing but also present at lower speeds going forwards and at first I thought brake shield, e-brake och brake pads. But the sound is not affected by engaging the brakes or e-brake.

When you let off the throttle and coast/decelerate it becomes worse as well. Engaging the clutch does not make the noise go away.

I recently swapped in new drive axles and a Quaife diff in the rear and I know they are in perfect condition.

I suspect the center carrier bearing is toast and need replacing. Any thoughts?

And what other little bits do you replace while you have the drive shaft out? Guibo and transmission mounts?

* UPDATE *
I have now replaced the rear brake callipers, brake pads, e-brake cables, e-brake shoes and I ground off any lips on the rotors and removed the wear sensor. The result is that the noise is now only when reversing.

I then took everything apart again and tried the method in this thread; https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=697365 and I filed down and anti-seized the points of contact between the brake shoes and brake shields. This didn't make any difference but I was desperate to try anything at this point.

I had the car on the lift and rocked the wheel back and forth in the air and managed to recreated the squeaking noise somewhat. The noise is only coming from the right rear and it seems to be the brake shield area. When I apply the e-brake and reverse the noise gets louder. There is no play in the wheel bearing whatsoever and I've put a new drive axle in to test without a difference.

I cannot find the issue, ARGHH!!

Any ideas?

SOLVED! It was my right rear wheel bearing. It showed no symptoms of wear but it started to make the noise LONG before it became bad.
