Remote Fob stop working

2006 325Xi with comfort Access.

Today my Remote Fob won't work all of the sudden. Won't lock /unlock by pressing the button or the door handle. won't start the car unless I stick the remote in the slot.

Replaced the CR2032 battery, still not working. Use my 2nd spare Fob, still nothing.

Any ideas where should start? Is there a fuse for comfort access??

What did you repaired? the remote?

It is rare for my case that both remotes won't work though...

update: found a blown fuse rated 20A. Replaced it. both remotes still don't work.

I put the key in the slot to start the car.(i think this is how you initiate the remote). Still not working.

Any idea?

Diversity Antenna is the most common thing to fail
when remotes become unresponsive.
Autozone will have a remote tester if you want to be sure
its not the remote.
Best to get Inpa and Ista D if you want to do DIY repairs on
these.
There are many threads on remote problems.

Unless you get more specific on fuse number functions it will be
Hard to Help.

Ctuna,

Come to think of things I did to the car recently. I sprayed some WD 40 to the rear hatch hinges. Now I searched where the Diversity antenna amplifier is after you mentioned it. It is right at the rear spoiler near the hinges. I wonder if I shorted the unit up.

Let me see if I can source one out and just replace it and see. Will report back. Thanks

In my case it wasn't the diversity antenna but broken wires. It happens every few years..

That’s possible...

Was looking at them on eBay, not too expensive (if im looking at the right thing)
Be worth a try...

Is there maybe a way to verify that’s the problem, checking if power is coming to it possibly?

Update:

Bought a used diversity antenna thru eBay. replaced it. Still not working. Cut open the plastic tubing to check the wiring.

slupie is right. one wire was cut and the other three are almost cut thru. soldered the broken one. everything works.

Thanks everyone
