About the same. ~5.0 seconds 0-60, maybe a tick less, stock. Both cars.
It'd end up a drivers race--who had the better launch, who shifted better.

Z4 M will beat a 335 stock v. stock. A modded z4m will absolutely destroy a "chipped" 335i.

If you want a sports car, get the Z4M, if you want a Luxury Sports Sedan/ Coupe, get the 335i. |

i wouldnt be so quick to say that the Z4M is the better track car than the 335i (stock for stock).
car and driver compared these two cars directly on the same track (with a bunch of other cars) and the results were surprising. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...re+page-6.html http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...re+page-5.html heres a quote from the article "But what floored us was that the 335i’s best lap (3:10.5) was 1.2 seconds quicker than the M coupe’s." |

Really? the 335 can easily achieve 500RWHP?
Take it from someone with both cars (a Highly tuned 335 and a stock M coupe), get the M coupe if you drive spirited in any fashion. In a straight line stock for stock they will be even, on the track the M coupe will make circles around the 335 despite the C&D review which is attributed to the shitty tires that come with the M coupe and the unfortunately badly setup from factory conservative alignments (which are quite aggressive in the 335).

The Z4 M Coupe is an amazing car. But then again so is the 335i. Both modded up the Z4M wins on the track, and in a straight line. It's disappointing but the Z4M was built to be more of a track car than the more luxury 335i

No they aren't actually, a little crappy on feel but not on grip, where as the z4 comes with 8 year old conti sports, I'm not kidding, it comes with the original M3 tires from 8 years ago.
Just trust me, going from one to the other is night and day, the 335 feels sloppy everywhere in comparison. An M3 even feels a little sloppy in comparison to the M coupe so you can imagine.

The z4m is an excellent car (which didn't sell that well unfortunately), but the engine is not all that modable compared to a 335. It is the same basic engine setup that was in the e46m3. The exhaust and software and intake get you pretty much nothing. You really need to start with headers etc but forced induction is really the only cost effective way to get serious HP comparable to the 335 with some software tuning (400/400). I can't find on the AA or Dinan site FI kits for the z4.
12.5 second 1/4 miles AA M3= ~$10k http://www.activeautowerke.com/viewp...x?id=Product15 The feel of the M coupe is fantastic though. I recommend driving one if you can as they are a ton of fun! |

I actually wanted to buy a Z4 M coupe over my 335....it came down to the simple fact that I wouldn't fit in the Z. Not even close. At 6'5 220...it aint going to happen.
It was mentioned above that a moded Z m is faster then a moded 335....I don't think it's that simple. They are so completely different as far as their modding platforms are concerned, it's really tough to compare, but since it's so much easier to mod a FI then a NA (in this comparison) I think the 335 wins. I usually don't even like to compare the two....since they're both such great cars.

In comparison the 335 will likely not achieve that kind of power without considerably more money, if you were shooting for only 350WHP 335 would definitely take the $ per HP modability, but going over 400hp the S54 wins hands down. Add in all the things that come with the M coupe like LSD, a great suspension setup, light weight, SUPER chassis rigidity, steering feel and responsiveness better then any other BMW and a lot more, tighter gearbox. Just the things that you can actually fix on the 335 will cost you at LEAST 8 grand (suspension and LSD) the rest you cant even fix!

To be honest, from a modding perspective, that's not good at all. However, if you're talking about a luxury car that you can also take to the track with close to 500rwhp, I guess 10K aint bad. |

MCoupe wins on the track/in the "twistys" hand down...
335i wins in a straight line hands down... You guys who haven't driven a Z4/MCoupe doesn't matter just don't know how it handles...the car STICKS to the road. Its amazing.
