I bought a 2008 Lexus ES350 and now I can't stop thinking about the BMW 335xi
Don't get me wrong the Lexus ES350 is an awesome automobile but driving it is very boring to say the least. Just for the heck of it I took a ride in a 335xi and boy is this a fun car. I think my Lexus has far superior materials then BMW but The 335xi 6MT was a blast to drive. I know I have to wait a few years because I will take a major hit on my Lexus. My question is when will The 3 series get a complete makeover? I have heard it will be the 2012 model. Also I love reading this forum.

+2 I like most Lexuses, but I can't stand the ES or RX, at least for driving. They are real estate agent and soccer mom cars.

Just chalk this up as a lesson learned.
But to answer your question, yes. I've heard the 2012 model year as well, which means it will debut sometime in 2011. The 2009 model year is going to be a facelifted version of this generation. The only advice I can give is either to wait till 2012, your ES will last you till then and provide a reliable daily transport, or try to trade the ES on a year or two old 335xi for an even wash. GL to you with whatever you do.

I also have the 2008 Lexus ES350 and I will definetly agree with the statement that the Lexus has far superior materials to BMW.
The whole car feels like a bank vault. Quiet, solid, smooth. Drives like a boat but for just relaxing in luxury it is a very good car indeed. |

I wouldn't regret your decision, Lexus makes some good cars. You are just going to get a bunch of response's here from 'enthusiasts' that will digg on Lexus to reaffirm their decision or to stroke their e-peen, or both.
I have had my 6 month old 335 in the shop 5 times, 3 times for a HPFP failure, I am on my fourth so far; some gasket on the turbo's, and my exhaust being installed improperly so the thing rattled. That was the nice thing about my 2001 IS300, I had it nearly 8 years and I only changed the oil, tires, and brakes. It was solid as a rock. |

fan boy alert....
c'mon we've been over this..... Germans build the car around the engine, Japanese build the car around comfort/luxury...then look at the engine... My 2002 ES 300 has a better navi than my 2007 335i... the A/C works MUCH better...the controls are more intuitive....but in the end, it's a boat, and will never be as fun of a car as the E93... |

Luxury and reliability in Lexus vs. Style and performance in Bimmer. You got to choose of which one to pick and stick with it. Just a thought.

While I don't think you could compare the ES 350 and the 335 xi by any means, the ES has come a long way over the past few years. I worked at a Lexus Dealership last summer and was impressed at where the line is going. They're can hold their own on the highway at 100+ too.

Im not a big fan of lexus, but u can easily make that car look and sound good. Throw some tint on that bitch and dual Borla exhaust. Sounds sooo good.
Lexus def. drives like a boat though. I dont find that to be something thats appealing unless you like getting car sick and throwing up all over your interior. |

The ES is basically a modded Camry in my opinion. The lines and styling look similar.

Correct ...ES350 is a glorified Camry with better chassis, interiors and different body style. Give BMW some credit - one the very few big car companies who does not do this "cross platform" production crap. Most European car companies were the same before GM and Ford bought many of them in the 90's and imported their evil corporate mentality into their design department. See what happened to Saab under GM's ownership and direction!
