Hawk Pads for M2 Comp?
I'm looking to replace the OE pads due to the huge dust it generates.
Has anyone tried Hawk pads for M2 Comp? I'm specifically interested in the Hawk "B" or "Z" compound. Which generates less dust but still suitable for street, occasional autocross and light track uses. |

i haven't been a fan of Hawk pad for years. you're better off using the Centric Semi-Metallic. i've been using this on some of our vehicles with lots of success - Cayenne, Q7 TDI, E500, E550, etc...great first bite with hardly any dust.
Centric owns and makes StopTech. Centric Semi-Metallic I use different pads for track (Porterfield R4).

I installed a set of the Hawk HPA 5.0 pads on my friends M2C - only the front - and it stood up to 4, 20 minute track sessions. He said the stopping power faded a little from the beginning, however never completely gave out. Just wasn't enough to engage the ABS but they're a good compromise pad.
They dust less and it's a finer dust. Not the complete blackness from the stock pads. I had them on my Mk7 Golf R and liked them. Already have a full set waiting to be installed on my M2. |
