The End of a Beautiful Friendship
I am now six months from the end of the warranty (2 years). So I am gearing up to sell the car.
I cannot afford to keep the car beyond its warranty period - its a bit of a problem child and is constantly having some issues: - The Engine Fault light has started up again (after 2 fixes) but the dealer cannot seem to find anything wrong with it when I took it in last week. I guess I will have to wait for it to get serious again. - The driver door speaker rattles with any rap song even at low volumes, again the dealer claims that all speakers are working fine (this has been going on for over a year now). - The shifts (on the auto) have started to be jerky, especially when driven hard. Despite this, the car has been my favourite car ever and I absolutely love it and will definitely miss it. The missus will have a 650i in the next 2 months so we are not leaving the BMW family completely. Looks like I will be moving over to a Land Rover, Q5 or the new Volvo medium SUV. Anybody got any other recommendations for a good SUV that can handle some light off - roading (beaches and easy trails). And No, The X3 is not an option. I cannot even get myself to look at that ugly piece of crap. |

I hope you're not expecting less problems with a Land Rover.

can another car maker say their car has been flooded in the english channel & set on top of a 18 story building that was demolished, started up and driven away? I owned a 82' Toyota 4x4 with a 22R engine....It would not suprise me if it were still on the road some where. In Iraq where the Chevys, Fords, and Landrovers are litterally shaken to pieces the Toyota pickup trucks keep rollin.

Its unfortunate that its no longer available but the X5 4.8iS is the most fun SUV
I have EVER had in my life including the aformentioned Landcruiser. I got an 06 X5 CPO so the warranty lasts for ever, well at least till 2012 and 100000 miles. I would get an 06 4.8iS AGAIN. its FAST faster than the Porsche Cayenne S and its a hoot to drive. It probably has the BEST exhaust note I have heard f rom a V8 and its joy to drive. It was SUPPOSED to be the MX5 but the M engineers would allow the M badge on the SUV. So BMW execs capiulated but there are rumors the M badge on the X5 will come out soon. The iS has the M gauges steering wheel, suspension etc etc. you should be able to pick up one far less than the $73K sticker

X5 M And it is official btw.
or a Porsche Cayanne, that would be awesome :P Turbo would even be better! Cayanne's have really good AWD, if not what about a VW Tourag? Stay away from Land Rover. Lexus RX is fun to drive, love those cars. |

X6 is $100K too.
We just spent $100K on a 650i. I don't want to spend another $100K on a car. Max $60K. I know the Land Cruiser has great reliability but its such a dog to look at. |
