Help with wiring for TVandNAV2Go

My ultimate goal is a "carputer" and I posted over on Bimmerfest as to my plans . I'm just about done...but have a question.

I'm going to tap into the front console lighter. There's a red with black stripe and a brown. One of those is the hot 12V and one is the ground. I've been Googling for over an hour and have found reference to each wire in various locations (this forum is one). Unfortunately, people have used them interchably and gotten into trouble each time. So...does anyone know which is the +12 and which is the ground. My money's on the red-black being 12V and brown being GRND, but I don't have much of a stomach for betting.

I do have a multi-meter...but am relucatant to provide any ignition power with my car in its current state of assembly.

Someone please help.

Well, for those that are dying to know, the red-black is the 12V and the brown is the ground, but that's in MY E90. So don't trust me, go buy a multimeter (I waited nearly 4hr for a friend to show-up with one)!
