Nearly 18 months and over 25,000 miles on my E90 335i...
...I'm still completely happy with her. I picked her up with 8 miles on 2/22/07. These are the only issues that I've taken her in for....2 times for brake squealing upon low acceleration, 1 time for iDrive upgrade, 1 time for plastic panel around CD player having a slight gap. The only thing I've been doing is changing the oil every 5,000 miles. For those wondering, no wastegate ticking noises and yes I'm still on the original HPFP (KNOCK ON WOOD!). Performance-wise, I'm 100% stock!

congrats, i'm right behind you with 22,000. No problems here either. orig. hpfp, the only thing its been back at the dealer for was its oil change and to fix the A/C vent knob...

I actually slowed down my driving A LOT. For the first 8-10 months also, I was driving nearly 2k miles month. I rarely go on canyon runs and midnight drives now so that slowed down the mileage.

OP - do you notice any differences when you change the oil, like have you prolonged the oil past 5k? I just wanted to see if it really did make a difference...
Some people say it's just BMW cutting costs, others say it's updated technology...not really sure... Congrats on the 25k Mile marker!! |

Honestly I didn't notice any difference in performance or the oil temperature. I just do it for peace of mind. You can buy the oil and oil filter for around $60 shipped from Tischer BMW or a local dealership can do it for around $100. I did my first oil change at 1,200 miles..just like I did on my last car, an Evo and in both cars..oil that came out was PITCH BLACK.
Not to sound like a jerk, but if this car was a lease, I probably wouldn't do it so often. But it's a buy so I'm doing everything I can to keep it in top condition. I'm looking into transmission fluid change now, but I'm seeing quite a debate on the issue. |
