It should show up, do you have both cables pluged into the IPOD jack? if it still isn't working take it in and have the SA take care of it...

Are you selecting the USB input or AUX input? It makes a difference. Select the USB input and you should see the name of your iPod at the top, and your songs and playlists, etc. below that. Also, be sure the USB connector is pressed firmly into the armrest receptacle. When I first installed mine, it wouldn't recognize the iPod at all... upon closer inspection, the USB plug wasn't pushed all the way into the slot in the armrest. Now mine works flawlessly.

I tried using a "normal" iPod cable at one point and had the same problem. It seems that you have to have the original BMW cable for this to work.

I'll try that too, however I was hoping I could use my Belkin adapter so it plays and charges the IPOD at the same time...

Wouldn't that be great if the album art work and images showed up on the idrive display. BMW needs to step it up with this kinda shit! I bet not even the new iDrive system will have that feature.

I can't even select USB on my iDrive, just AUX.
I have 6FL (iPod/USB) as well on my E92 M3 with enhanced sound and my iDrive only has AUX, not USB available for selection. However, when I do select AUX with my iPhone plugged in with the BMW-supplied USB+minijack-->iPod dock connector cable, I can see my iPhone's name on the iDrive screen as well as all the playlists, artists, albums, song titles, in their respective menu heirarchy. So apparently AUX input selection works just the same as how some have described choosing USB would work. Perhaps this is specific to cars with the enhanced (Individual) audio package? or is it because I use an iPhone and not a regular iPod? Also, it looks like using the supplied cable charges my iPhone's battery as well, although there is a prompt when I first plug it in that asks if I want to put the iPhone is airplane mode but that disappears by itself and all iPhone functions works normally (music, voice calls, charging, etc)

Ah, I must be missing something then. I've tried the supplied cable, tried usb, aux, etc and still no luck.
Sound is coming through just fine however. I tried my bro's ipod and the song titles did not appaer either. Weird. I'll have to stop in the dealer. I can say the upgraded sound rocks with ipod though

Theres something very weird about the 6FL option. I have the whole thing working perfectly, and I didn't need the additional BMW cable that people have referred to. I am just using the standard white USB->iPod cable that comes free with every ipod. I have song titles, artist, genre etc all working fine and showing up on idrive like this. I wonder is it something to do with specific ipod types? Mick |

There are 2 ways you can use the Ipod with the 6FL option.
1. With the Y cable delivered by BMW. In this way the Ipod is doing the job (plays the file and sent it through the aux to the HIFI system of the car. You can handle the Ipod through the iDrive system of the car. In my opinion the soundquality is not very good in this way. 2. With the original USB cable which came with your Ipod and which you use to conect your Ipod to your computer. When you use it this way, the Ipod is used as an external harddrive. The files must be WAV, WMA or Mp3 on the Ipod (the ipod itself can't play these files). The car can't play AAC files (the format Ipod use for audio). Playlist you use have to be M3u (very easy to make with the program MediaMonkey). When you use WMA lossless in this way the soundquality is tremendous.

hi
I had the same problem, and i resolve it, you can use the ipod original white cable, but the only issue is that you cant use ipod touch, o iphone, it has to be a normal ipod.
In the matter of the songs, you have to select all titiles and then the names of the songs will appear alphabetically, then on the idrive menu you can choose random. Quote:
