Is this normal?

So I walked up to the car today and was about to open the trunk and saw this gap between the bumper and the lower tailgate section that flips open. Is this gap normal? Sorry for the dirty car picture.

I can only see mine when I look directly into the gap.

It is probably just the direct sun making it more noticeable.
