Audiophiles - Curious about your Home Audio System

Hey Guys,

This is totally random, but I'm curious about what M5 owners are running for a home audio system

You obviously have an amazing taste in cars. It's obvious that translates to really nice home audio systems.

Please share pics, descriptions, listening preferences whatever you like.

I am really into vinyl, especially Jazz from the 50's and 60s (Blue Notes, Impulse, Strata East labels...tons more).

So for me, its tube amplifiers, exotic turntables, pure 2 channel stereo sound (and even mono with a dedicated mono phono cartridge including pre-RIAA curves as needed).

Here is a part of the vinyl collection:

One of my turntables that I absolutely love.

It's called the EAR Discmaster designed by Tim De Paravicini.

Nice record collection, but I'm not sure I could collect so many bottles with the liquid still in them.

I mainly listen to records, but have some hidden digital sources for demonstration purposes.

Speakers:
- Dynaudio Evidence Platinum
- 4x Dynaudio sub600 / 2xREL G1 in the back

Amps:
- McIntosh MC601
- Mcintosh C47
- McIntosh MP1100

Source:
- Nottingham Dais with Ortofon Windfeld ti

That is simply beautifully done!! I like everything about that room
I knew there would be some amazing systems that might be lurking around here.

I like the turntable and the Ortofon Winfield cartridge. I've have a few Ortofons in my collection and love them all, especially the SPUs (A95 Anniversary, SPU Spirit, Classic II GM E, SPU T).

I wish I had a room like the one you posted...that is the next main thing for me when I get a chance.

I have a few setups that I play around with...

Sometimes
Quad 57 Electrostatics with the EAR V20 Integrated Amplifier.

Sometimes
Amps: EAR V20 Integrated or Almarro 318B

Turntable: Micro Seiki BL-91L with SME 3012 Series II (Early Version) tonearm, Supex 900 Super MC cartridge

Phono: Eddie Current Transcription

Speakers: Blumenstein Naga's with dual subs, Townshend Audio Supertweeters

Cables: Kubala Sosna Emotion

In the main system:
Kuzma 4 Point tonearm on the EAR Discmaster (Dynavector XV-1S or XV-1T Cartridge), Helius Omega Silver Ruby tonearm with Jan Allaerts MC Finish or various Denon DL 103 Series cartridges

Redpoint Model D, Triplanar VII Tonearm, Ikeda IT-407CR1 12" version, another Helius Silver Ruby, Second Dynavector XV-1T cartridge, Transfiguration Orpheus L cartridge, HRS M3 Base and a Siltech Lake Compass tonearm cable.

For Digital (CD and SACD), the EAR Dac 4 / Acute 4

My main speakers are Marten Coltrane Tenor:

Same main system room but slightly older pictures:

It seems we both got the same disease, but by the look of it, you got it worse.

Next on my list is that Kuzma arm, but first I have to build a new garage.

My turntable in action, with Cadenza black.

Me trying to be a serious audiophile. (Upgraded the speakers since then.)

You put so much care into the room, exactly how it should be. Most people go for the equipment and forget the room is like 70% of the sound

If I had the option, I would definitely build out a dedicated room. Someday I will!

Now, I also use the Kuzma Airline:

If you are going to get one Kuzma Tonearm, get the Airline if you can. I have both the 4 Point and the Airline...they are superb and you won't go wrong with either. But the Airline....it is truly special!

Kuzma Airline

The air compressor and running lines is the only hassle (kind of), but with that sorted, it just never needs any adjustment once set. Never had a problem.

system 1: Lumin U1 > Chord Hugo TT > Ayre AX5 twenty > Harbeth Super HL5+ Anniv. ed. *cardas cables all around

system 2: VPI Scoutmaster w/ Shelter 90x > Juicy Music BB Extreme > Blue Circle BC28 > Shahinian Arcs

system 3 (home theater): Apple TV and Sony A9G > Yamaha Aventage RX-A1080 > Kef Q550/Q650/Q350/atmos modules

*i dont love my home theater set up and have decided home theater is a pain in the ass. previously had a sonos playbar and spending extra on home theater simply not worth it to me.

What I want to know is... is there anyone here that really thinks a $500 interconnect cable makes a difference when literally all music is recorded using a 50 dollar inst cable?

please no cable debates. that said, cables can make an obvious difference but i'd say that doesnt necessarily mean that more expensive cables sound better. without a doubt cables can change how the music sounds.
