What about with mufflers? Nice numbers, any dyno maps on Ess dyno? Do mustang dynos err a bit on the high side of things?

No baseline on this dyno. No cans just straight pipes.

What's with the drop in torque between 3000 and 3500 RPMs?

Not sure but with my old Evotech software I had before I got my SCer I had the same dip between 2500 and 3500 on a different dyno.

Why no baseline? The only real purpose a dyno like this serves is with a baseline comparison.

Well, a baseline would be good - however:

a) He isn't here serving all your needs, you should be happy that he posted his results.
b) We all know that Z4M's never baseline over 300whp, generally around 280-290whp and Mustang Dyno's are conservative.

The owner was at a local meet and they were doing dynos. The comparisons were really more against other cars then the car in its stock form. The car could have made this power stock who knows

Like DiscoZ said most stock Z4M's will do 280 to 290. We do plan to get a bone stock Z4M on the dyno and do some runs. The plan is to have a bone stock VS ESS tuned VS ESS supercharged dyno chart very soon.

While we all love seeing #s (and it is fun!), dyno sheets really are pointless unless there is a direct comparison to be made on the same vehicle. Rom3n this is in no way an attack on you, I know you've got an amazing car and you've let us peer into the fun life of a supercharge z4m.

Statements like "We all know that Z4M's never baseline over 300whp" in the context of a graph like this is pointless. Are we to take it that this dyno, representing a 317hp peak, means the ESS software along unlocks 17+ hp? It would be nice to think so, and it very well may, but if you infer that alone you are making a poor assumption about all other things being equal. As stated above, every dyno is different and the factors of the day like temp and humidity go into its power ratings as well. Is this dyno sheet sae corrected? what is the correction factor applied? What would have happened if the car had stock exhaust?

So, for onlookers, take this as what it is, a 1 time baseline of a single car in its exact config. You can't extrapolate any further about the ESS tune (from this chart, other threads on other boards have far better info with comparison dynos). I just feel the need to swing the baseline hammer 1 time and defend those of us who always ask for it. So, if you're going to dyno a mod... please baseline the car first!

I don't think that was the point of this post. I think the point was hey, one of buddies dyno'd his car at an event and here are the numbers as an FYI only. That's it.

Keep in mind guys this is just a one off dyno. Like Dammmittt said it was just a fun hey check it out. This is in no way avertisement of any mod the customer has. Like I said above the car could have done this being bone stock. It just happend to have software exhaust and a RPI scoop. This was a fun post but it is true that even under ideal conditions you dont see stock Z4M's going over 300HP on dynos very often so it was worth posting. But like many have mentioned the results need to be taken with a grain of salt.

We will put a stock Z4M on this same dyno and see what happens. This will also be the dyno we use for my car so It will be a good reference.

So Rom3n it sounds like straight pipes actually improve power with ESS software no? I deleted my mufflers last week and was wondering if it improved power or not.

Hard to say for sure without real testing. The customer who owns this car said he felt gains when he replaced his mufflers with straight pipes and added the RPI scoop.

Dude - Chill out. I think that philospohy 101 has had a lasting effect on you; which may or may not be accurate, but it is not the best form to get into such a tizzy when the dyno was just posted *as-is*. The guy likely just wanted to see what his car would get and dyno'd it. I doubt he wanted to scientifically validate his thesis. Take the results as those of what just this guys car makes - that's what most of us did.

No one appears to be attributing anything to the discrete power addition properties of certain mods, nor is any such inference inferred. I would apply a risk-adjustment discount factor to it, if it makes you happy. However, one thing is certain based on all dyno's posted to this date: no Z4M has dyno'd over 300whp stock, yet.

As for "defending" the baseline askers, etc. No one has any obligation to baseline his/her car simply for your (or my) benefit; it's not your, nor my, right. Yes, it's nice when people document their mods, it helps us all out.

Cheers
