X3 M: Road trip car?

17.2 gallon tank, 19 mpg on the highway = 327 miles of range. Or, more usefully, 245 miles until you're at 1/4 tank.

If you drive through the western states, you can go 200 miles without seeing a gas station, esp. if you are not on the interstates. I would have range anxiety.

To me this seems like the X3 M won't be much of a road trip car.

I would say the gas mileage is the least of the worries. You will be paralyzed by the suspension by the time you get there.

You would have a better road trip in the X3M then the M2C, it gets similar milage with puny 13.7 gallon tank. Wear comfortable shoes, you know, just in case...

My 340 is lowered with Dinan springs and I’ve got Koni Sport yellow shocks at the stiffest setting. The ride is firm. I’m not sure the X3 M would actually be more firm than my current ride. On long trips, it’s not a problem for me.

However, my 340 will get 32 MPG driven normally at speeds around 75, and it can get 28-30 mpg at 80-90 mph assuming no headwind. Range is usually 450-550 miles on a tank. Pretty effing good for long road trips for a car that can do 0-60 in the low 4’s.
