Here is a different type of iPhone and Bluetooth problem — I am not blaming BMW, yet, just asking for ideas ...

Setup: iPhone 8, iOS 12.3.1, connecting to X5 over BT iDrive, CarPlay permanently disabled on iPhone and on X5.

Issue: unless my media source is the iPhone, all sounds from the iPhone are fully suppressed. Email, texts, notification with sounds from other apps, etc. I really would like to hear those.

Any ideas?

Even with CarPlay I don't hear notifications through the car speakers when my phone is connected.

How do you permanently disable it on both? I was actually looking to do this yesterday but couldn't find it in the limited time that I had. Also, disabling car play would not have any negative effect on the wifi hotspot feature of the car, correct? My wife uses that a lot to work while we are on the road.

- in X5: com, mobile devices, settings
- on iPhone: settings, general, carplay
