It’s not just the 7 series though, it’s every grille since the X3 was released! The X3 grille is the least offensive, but still too big/ugly, the rest are almost bad enough not to buy the car at all!

The new 3 series gets a grille with a wider surround when you specify the m-sport pack. The first time I saw it I laughed. Dependent upon the car's colour, if you painted the surround red it would look like big cartoon comedy lips.

My thoughts exactly, I saw a white one with a full black grill, absolute comedy it looked like it’d had fillers

There's a lot of marketing, back peddling, patronising BS in that article.
They realise they have messed up. What a joke, fire the designers. in fact fire the lot of the exec for being suckered in to the current design language. |

I'm another that doesn't mind it. X7 looks fine to me. 7 series didn't look bad in the showroom last week. Alfa and Audi grilles are no smaller, it's just that the kidney grilles used to be smaller, and just a part of the grille, not the whole grille!
I now look at some of the older grilles and think they look a little licked and mealy mouthed. I'd say X3 grille looks really great. I do agree the thickness of the new 3 series grille edge is a little large funny, but otherwise the overall design is fine.

Reading between the line "and that the issue will solve itself ... " means of course that BMW designers acknowledge the disproportionately large grills and plan to correct it. The issue cannot resolve itself. Only humans can.

More importantly though - blue strides and black socks? You need to sort that out
