Brake Pad Warning Light

Hello,
I replaced the front and rear brakes on my 2011 328 sedan and ever since i am having a weird issue in idrive. I will sometimes get an error saying "replace brake pads" but when i check in the CBS menu in the cluster or even in the vehicle info screen through idrive, it shows me that they've been reset and still have lots of life left on them. the red brake light also appears in the dash.
This does not happen on every drive and usually just dings as i'm going down the road for no reason at all. Sometimes turning the car off and restarting will make the warning go away. If not, the next day the light isn't on. Any ideas what this could be and how i can fix it?
