SSD disk not recognized
This morning, when I was going to finalize my order for an xDrive45e, I did some tests at the dealership with a 2TB SSD disk. It is formatted in MS-DOS (FAT32) and contains a folder with MP3s and a folder with FLACs.
On an X3 G01, the SSD connected in USB-A was immediately recognized, but only the MP3 files were visible and readable. It is possible that, unlike the G05, the G01's multimedia system does not read FLACs. On an 8 Series (and according to the seller, with the same multimedia system as the X5 G05), the SSD disk was not seen by the multimedia system, neither in USB-A, nor in USB-C. However, the disc was powered by the two USB sockets because its indicator light was on when the two connections were made. And "USB playback" was well checked in the iDrive. How surprising that the G01 can power and read this SSD and not the G05, does anyone have an explanation? Should the disk be formatted in ExFAT or other for the G05? Has anyone ever been able to read an SSD connected in USB-C (if not, what would this port be used for?) on their G05? Thank you in advance for your help. I wasn't aware that SSD was one of the storage options for the X5?

You can try a different format.
Another possibility is that the USB socket does not have enough power for the SSD drive. In that case, you can try using a Y Cable to supply power from a 2nd USB port or a cigarette lighter adapter. |

It could be a problem of power but it works without any supply on a X3 G01.
