Ratcheting noise...

I've been getting this noise for a while now but it's gotten more predominate as of late. It sounds like a ratchet winding and sounds like it's coming from the engine. It happens less than a second after let off the gas pedal. I have also been getting this clicking noise as well just after I hit the gas. I don't know if they are related. Anyone have any idea WTH this is? This and those damn squeaky brakes are annoying the hell out of me!

sounds like a wastegate problem to me

I thought it may be that with the clicking but do you think the ratcheting is also possibly the wastegate?

i have that same noise (similar description), but w/ a 330i (no waste gate)

OP, I had the intakes installed, which demuffle the sound, found out it was the diverter valves.
