BMW Ultimate Drive......

i looked at as one of those "once in a lifetime" chances to drive an Alpina B7 and if i don't start making some serious cash the new M3.

so i said what the heck and signed up. it's for a good cause and doesn't cost a thing.

drove both ends of the spectrum-------------

M3: just over the top....they could make a cd with the sound of that motor and it would sell.

B7: big, smooth and pulls hard past 60...up past 120

For 2008, the cars include:

I drove that same B7 several weeks ago and, at that time at least, it pulled hard past zero to 150. Unfortunately, the M3's transmission was temporarily shot and it was out of the lineup.

BMW Ultimately needs to release the schedule of the locations

I wonder how the B7 compares to the 760li in terms of power, maybe even just a general comparo

Yeah, if you're under 25 they won't turn you loose in a B7, M3 or 550i (may be others too).

The Ultimate Drive came through the PNW back in mid June. I had signed up to drive the M3 and a Z4. But about 1 week before they were to be in the area, I got a call saying that the M3 was out for servicing and wouldn't be available.

I think they even said the Z4 wasn't going to be available either. Of course, by this time everything else had already been reserved, but they said I could head down and hang out and if an opening came up on a car I would like to drive, they'd do their best. Screw that.

Obviously people trashed the M3 pretty good. I believe the transmission broke (6MT) but I'm not exactly sure.

Oh, and this has been going on for quite some time. Texas was covered way back in April. The full route map can be found here:
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...Komen/Map.aspx

You can register through BMW's website too.

It should give you the date that registration opens for the locations near you. So if it says "August 27", then log on the website at 12:00 AM on August 27 to get the best selection of cars and time slots. So be at your computer at 11:59 PM on August 26th. (Just an example for the dates.)

I remember last year they said anything twin turbo or v8 is out for people under 25..

On another thread someone said you have to be 30 for M3 and B7.

I dont know why BMW doesn't clearly print these age requirements on the website when you sign up.
