340i xdrive M package vs Basic
Am i missing any of the driving experience if i go with the Basic 2016 340i xdrive vs the M package? is it mainly looks?
Any feed back from owners with 50K+ on the car already? Just looking for a good sporty car that i can rely on for the next 4-5 years. I found couple decent ones but some of them do not have the M package. First post here btw! |

However, there are also MSport Options as well, such as brakes, suspension, etc. |

My biggest regret on my car is not getting the M package.

M Sport brakes are very desirable for looks, brake performance, and value. I think the entire package on my 2015 model would have added $600 to the sticker. To do it later at BMW parts and labor prices, in the $3000+ range. |

The confusion comes from a MSport and a Sport/Sportsline. |

I don’t think there is anything driving wise that makes a difference. Unless you add suspension and brake options.
But man oh man does M sport LOOK way better then all the other models haha Just my opinion tho, if looks don’t matter to you by all means save the the money and go with sport Line or basic. |

Well, I picked up a 2016 "MSport" CPO car a couple of months ago with a little over 10,000 miles on it. As I was shopping I test drove a lot of 340i in various configurations as well as a low mileage M235i.
The one I picked had all the factory "fun" goodies. Track Handling Package, M Sport Package, Adaptive M suspension, and 19" staggered wheels (would have prefered 18"). I also went with the crazy good 8 speed auto. What I got was one of the original "bad buys" for these since new it stickered at $62,450 which was pretty much M3 money. I got it for $34,000 even. To me it's pretty much perfect with the ability to be comfortable and then sporty and fast as hell at the flick of a switch. I'd say the options are definitely worth it if you're looking for a real sports car experience, not a luxury one. It wouldn't have made sense as a new buy but used it's a steal. Looks the business too and I've gotten more compliments on this in the short time I've had it than I ever did on my C5 Z06 Corvette. Many seem to bemoan the XDrive version but I really can't see over-driving the car's abilities on the road if I'm driving legally and responsibly. i don't think I'll ever be back on a track so to me it's no big deal. If I want a good track car I'd get back into a Miata. |

Personally not a fan of the overused M badges but I am a fan of the sport seats. Those alone make the upgrade to Sport line/M Sport worth it. If I'm not mistaken all LCIs, regardless of trim, had them available.

It's cosmetic so in theory doesn't affect driving that much. But I can assure you, the upgraded bumpers, wheels, steering wheel and seats alone will make you happy with it.

The car is bland without the M Spot Package...
The seats and steering wheel alone are worth the extra cost...so don't cheap out on the two pieces of car you interact with ALL DAY. |

It's interesting. Do M Sport 340i's come with no fog lights? My ZHP has fog lights and M Sport.

I picked up a 2016 340i xdrive a few months ago with the M package. For me personally - the M package is a must have - besides the overall more aggressive look and the little pieces of M badging throughout the interior - the M steering wheel is amazing.

I think we need his link otherwise this is rather a guessing game. To see the options even in a non M package can make all the difference.
Having said that, I personally would not want the XDrive. I drove the idential car with and without it and for me the XDrive just makes the front axle feel havy. But this is my personal oppinion

There is a M steering wheel, the sport seats and as well the the sport automatic transmission. This might have been parts of the M package. Certainly useful options apart from the M bits on the outside :-)

Odd. My 2012 335i M Sport had fog lights AND an oil cooler.
