Oil temperature gauge not working
I been having problems with the oil temp gauge sometimes working and other times not for the past 2 months. This week is finally not moving at all symptoms are AC not cooling at %100 , engine fan running loudly and car feels under power.
Any one had this problem before? |

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=11_4447 It's #16. in this diagram. I have not dug into these engines much, but given the location of that sensor I would pay someone to confirm it's bad before I tried to fish in there or took off the manifold. What is your failure condition for the A/C? Mine was cutting out at a stop and I thought this indicated an A/C issue. BMW scanned the car and found it was shutting down the A/C because it was getting too hot due to a failed radiator fan. I never got any lights on the dash, and the A/C started working again as soon as I got up to speed. I replaced the fan myself and cleared the codes. There was a code 801224 "Air conditioning compressor: Shut-down due to excess pressure in refrigerant circuit" in the DME, but again I was never told anything through the dash lights or the iDrive. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...47967-9999.pdf |

I am talking about accessing the live data from the oil temp sensor. What does the sensor show vs reality. Maybe BM3 can access that data but the NT520 certainly can. If you are more thrifty put together a virtual machine and a esys or ipna cable and use ISTA-D to read the values. The NT520 is worth the money if you are gonna try to wrench on your car. It already paid for itself working on my Jeeps EVAP system in just one use vs taking it to a mechanic. BM3 isn't a diagnostic tool, it's about speed and there is some diag in there so the BM3 people can blame your problems on something else. :-D
