2016 F30: A.S.S. defeat remembered?
Now that my 2015 328i has been totaled, I'm starting the search for a newer car. The '16 328i would be a good choice -- but I wanted to be sure about something. The '15 had been programmed by the dealer to remember the last status of the A.S.S. feature. Once you disabled it and drove, the car would leave it disabled, unless you selected EcoPro mode or turned the defeat off for some reason.
Do the later models, esp. the 2016, also do this, or can the dealer program them to do it? Or has BMW succumbed to the crazy notion that people *like* this feature? I ask because the 2019 X3s I've had as loaners this month do not remember the last setting as my 2015 did. |

They may not want to code it for you but you can code it your self with Carly or Bimmercode.

I think I read somewhere that you can do this by pressing the button for a long time or a combination of things. Google it maybe you can find it.
Either way it is possible to code yourself or by the dealer or by third parties. |

My experience:
2013 F30 - did NOT remember setting, always defaulted ASS to on. Had the dealer program/code it to do so. 2016 F31 - car DOES remember last setting, no dealer or coding required. |

You just press the button above the start button and it will stay off until you reactivate or put it into eco-pro

Yes, my 2015 works like that too. Press the button above the start button and the Auto start and stop stays off. That is where it stays for me.

My 2016 stays off as well.
I've also noticed if I an running in another mode, go to eco-pro, and then go back to another setting before turning the car off it will remember the ASS setting. The only time the setting didn't stay as I wanted was when turning off the car when it was in eco-pro. |

I like turtles.
Yeah, about 2015 or so. My 2013 had to be recoded, took a few hours at the dealership under warranty. My 2017 remembers the last setting, and it's definitely off, and stays off. I might bump the on/off button on occasion and that's really annoying. Turtles, I really don't like them. |
