Disklok on an M340i steering wheel?

Hi all,

Wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction for getting the M340i steering wheel measurements for fitting a Disklok. I’ve heard that the M Sport and standard wheels on the G20s fit the Small size version of the Disklok device but even my dealer wasn’t able to give me the diameter of the M340i wheel and he suspected it was larger than the others.

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

Sorry, but may I ask: WHY?

Car itself has sufficient security measures + I am sure you have an insurance...

All those locks, including the wheel "nut locks" are just useless, as people who do those things, usually have universal keys anyway.

If someone will eye it - disklok will not help, and only annoyance is for yourself to put it on and off everytime:/

The M340i uses the same steering wheel as the M Sport models.

Interesting attitude. My area has a lot of opportunity car thefts, with relay attacks being common. Even though I have a faraday pouch, If I can get even one of the scumbags to move on to another car for a reasonable outlay of £100 and a bit of inconvenience putting it on... I’ll take it.

@upsidedownfunnel Thanks for the confirmation.

I can confirm that the small size fits the m-sport wheel because I've got one. I also bought a protective cover for a few quid off eBay to stop the leather getting scratched.
With the prevelance of key cloning and relay theft, combined with the knowledge thieves want a quick, easy win, I wouldn't be without one. Takes second to fit and remove

Because opportunity criminals are still very common in the UK. When I’m driving round the Favelas, I’ll probably adjust my security setup accordingly.

Car key cloning.
Relay theft
For the sake of a few seconds, it makes your car less attractive than another one parked nearby

Get insurance to deal with that and move on.

I wasn’t aware that this was such a divisive topic. Surely, people aren’t relying solely on car insurance and a nod and a wink from BMW that their cars are “secure”? How about excess fees, increased premiums and loss of no claims bonuses...

For a very reasonable outlay you can make your car quite unappealing to all but the most hardened criminals. It can’t be because people are tight, as if you can afford these cars, you can afford more security...

I get that if someone wants my car badly enough, they’ll get it, but that’s not what these devices protect against.

Best £100 you can spend on car security, imo. Here's an excerpt from the AutoExpress review:

"For the ultimate in physical security, look no further than Disklok. Its design means it’s not vulnerable to steering wheel cuts, and it just spins when you try to apply force with tools. We also noticed areas where the product has been improved, eliminating weaknesses we had used when attacking the lock in past tests. And although other products hinted at approval by insurance research body Thatcham, Disklok recently had its status renewed. As a deterrent it is mighty effective, and it comes in a choice of colours if you think the silver of our sample is insufficient..."

We've got them on both our cars in an area where car theft isn't that uncommon. They're a good visible deterrent, they're very hard to remove without the key and the car can't be driven when they're installed.

I'd get one. And probably GAP insurance too just in case! I'm total agreement, anything which makes your car less tempting the better.
