Sound coming from Steering wheel airbag

I have a round sports steering whel airbag in my E92 335i. When i hit bumps on the road I hear a sound similar to when you bend and unbend an xray film (somewhat like a sharp clicking). A mechanic at the dealership took out the airbag at the dealer and found nothing loose inside the steering wheel. I am convinced it comes from inside the airbag.
Anybody have the same problem? Should I ask for a replacement of the airbag because of the noise and possible future malfunction?
Thanks a lot for your inputs....

It might be the coil that allows the buttons to function on the steering wheel.
