The e9x numberings

I was trying to explain to someone the differences in the e9x numbering and they brought up an interesting point. Their rationale was that it could have been numbered according to number of "doors"

eg...

e92 = coupe for 2 doors
e93 = convert 2 doors + folding top
e94 = sedan 4 doors
e95 = wagon 5 doors

Thought I'd share...

I always thought the number progression coincided with the now infamous Top Gear cock-o-meter ... at least as it applies to the US

E90= 0 (sedans are everywhere, low key, low cock rating)
E91= 1 (euro style know it alls, cockier than sedan owners)
E92= 2 (coupe owners are generally cockier than their wagon and sedan counterparts)
E93= 3 (highest ranking for obvious reasons )

Ranking applies for M3 variants as well....

note: j/k on the E91...I love wagons

So the E90 sedan has no doors? There is no 91, 94 or 95.
