Incoming M40d post - wait is over

Started a post originally in F30 post during order but to stop bothering people who don't care starting new one here

My X3 M40d order is ready for pick up on Sunday (new reg day in U.K.)

It is a 2019 car with ID6 etc but no engine overhaul in 40d so wasn't bothered about waiting for ID7 having played with it in 3er

Car spec:
Glacier silver, black / blue stitch interior
Tech pack
Comfort pack
MS+
ACC
Sunroof
Tow bar
Heated seats/wheel
CarPlay
High gloss shadow line (Cerium grey delete option)

Have also had the 21 " rims painted gloss black by dealer as that's the look I wanted, and with the cerium grey delete I felt they didn't match anything

I haven't seen it with new colour wheels yet as they're fitting Saturday so looking forward to this. Having them do it has been a good experience so far as it isn't going to effect the tyre/alloy insurance I have been offered as part of deal, and I haven't had to do anything.

Will post some pics and thoughts compared to F30 when I collect

Excited needless to say

Heated wheel - UK - NICE :-)

"It is a 2019 car with ID6 etc but no engine overhaul in 40d so wasn't bothered about waiting for ID7 having played with it in 3er"

Yeah - I was in an X5 at Silverstone last week. TBH the ID7 is good, but not worth stressing about IMHO. Like iPhone 7 - 7S type thing.

Interesting.. I am going for a Black and wouldn't mind the 21" rims painted black.. is that something the dealer offers?? If so, how much does that cost? I may consider that as an option as the rest of the car is black..

Very nice spec and sounds like it will look the biz from the off, with cerium delete and black wheels. Look forward to the pics 👍👌

Nice spec. I think it'll look fantastic with the black wheels to match the grilles.

My local dealer has a specialist they use (I'm in Exeter, they were powder coated in Cornwall). I was discussing my desire for darker wheels and was considering the MP set, but my dealer offered the service and I actually really like the style of wheel so it seemed to make sense

£100 per corner was quoted for gloss black powder coating, which when you think of hassle of temp wheel install, tyre removal, shipping, shot blast, paint, ship, refit tyres, refit wheels is not bad

The only cerium grey bits left are the M40d badges and think they would look good black - no additional or different badges, just black version of the standard

Congrats and great engine choice!

Very jealous that all your bits will come black, it's cost me a lot of time, money and hassle to get mine black!

As you know, the 40i/d's come with gloss black grilles etc. as standard now instead of Cerium, if M Sport Plus pack is selected.

I actually tried to have the gloss black bits removed from my MY2020 order (against the grain, I know) but to no avail, so gloss black it is.

Yet I think the wheels have some Cerium? If so it doesn't gel. I'm trying to confirm.

Yes, the 718M wheels are predominantly Cerium Grey, which used to match all the other bits but no longer does.

I'm tempted to go the gloss black wheel route myself now I can't have Cerium grilles so am looking forward to seeing lots of pictures of this car seeing as it's the same colour combo.

Get the 20's, the Orbit Grey looks great, and you can have non run flat tyres, probably my favourite option on mine!

Can't you just remove the relevant option code ? It is a specific code within MSplus pack ?

Technically you can, but it isn't letting you do it on the 40d at the minute, which are built in South Africa as opposed to Spartanburg.

A supply issue supposedly and my car is due to go into build next week.

Ahh ok.. I asked my dealer and as I am leasing, it will invalidate the warranty on the wheels.. I will just have to live with that option..

Just found out Monday - my wheel paint won't be ready until Monday now

My fault for not getting instruction to proceed in time - my new car on the 1st day goal ruined by indecision

First world problem

Fantastic to see it in the flesh....

Great looking. Are you intending to keep the car for the future and did you purchase outright or via finance?

Reason for the question is specifically around what BMW would say about the wheels being powder coated if you took the car on finance, would that cause issues when you hand it back (if that is what you want to do in a few years)?

If no immediate impact, I may do this to my wheels in time as yours look great against all the other black trim pieces and the Glacier Silver paint finish!

This was my concern but my dealer did it for me and even better - they bundled the alloy insurance worth the deal originally and even honour that as painted rims!

Brilliant deal - glad to hear they were flexible with that for you...
