BMW Thorne VDC visit

Hi all,

I will be going to BMW Thorne Vehicle Distribution Centre in early December for a tour and in preparation for it, I am collecting any questions you guys may have about the centre?

For those who are not sure what Thorne VDC is, it is now the home of BMW Approved Z8 and Carbon Core repairs as well as ex-management vehicles and its also technical expertise centre for BMW UK. It was the main entry point for most BMW cars entering the UK up until Killinghome was up and running.

For cars more than 2-3 years old, you should also see a service stamp in your service book with Thorne stamped on it (new cars have been coming out of Killinghome VDC for the last year or two now).

If you do have any questions, please list them here and I will ask.

Look to see if there are any well optioned G31 540i tourings hidden in a corner... My current F11 was 'parked' there for a few months, which allowed me to get it for a good price.

Sounds like a visit I'd enjoy, have a good day.

It's the place they used to do all the smart repairs to your spanking new BMW before it went to the dealer for a good old holograming/swirling session before you take delivery....

Find out why there’s still no way for a customer to track the status of a new car order. I believe people in mainland Europe can do it through the connected app, and the septics have been able to do it for years.

Check out the employees car park because it was once said that many doughnuts could be seen due to testing cars before delivery!

Ah I guess that there is no entry for a PDC on the iDrive Service History? I'll ask the question though.

Haha yes, I went to Thorne a few years ago and have been twice to Killingholme as I oragnised the tours for them. I have to say that BMW are amazing in my opinon when it comes to looking after their enthusiasts.
