Headrest tablet mount ideas???

Has anyone been able to figure out a way to mount and iPad or any other tablet to the back of the solid headrest on the F9X???

My X3 M does full blown daddy duty for school drop offs/pickups and road trips where having the 2x iPads mounted to the back of the seat headrest definitely comes in handy. It's easy on the back of the seats on my wife's SUV where the mounts clamp to the metal rods that support the headrest but in the F9X the metal rods are covered by the rear plastic housing.

Any ideas???

There are some RAM mounts with long flexible posts that mount to the seat bolts. Maybe you could find one the would fit on the inside rear seat bolt on either side?

My little girl prefers to hold her devices, so I haven’t had to solve this challenge.

Greetings, miula - I spent some time researching online and couldn't find anything as they all seem to need at least that space between the actual headrest and the seat.

But another option might be cupholder tablet holders - seems there are a lot of them available. Would fit into the center armrest cupholders I should think (as long as you don't have three children so the armrest can be in the down position).

Here were just a few examples:

That's not a bad idea, but I assume it might be kind of cumbersome to take off when not in use. I'll do some research and report back.

Both my son and daughter can hold their devices but tend to get nauseous on long trips when they do.

I tried a couple of cup holder tablet mounts and being in the armrest they have to turn almost 90 degrees to see them. Tried one that had a longer arm and it kept falling out of the cup holder.

I am waiting for a mount that attaches to the head rest posts and holds a single iPad in the middle to see if it fits between the headrest and cover for long trips.

Have 2 of these and are great. Leave them on and slide tablet in and out no problem.

Correct, you wouldn’t want to be taking them on and off. Also, they are probably spendy. On the upside, they may hold the device the steadiest of the options.

Good luck!

The X3 M has a solid back on the headrest unlike the M40i, there is no way to install a mount like that or at least I haven't figured out how to do it...

Another first world problem solved!

Seriously I seem to run into stuff like this all the time. I even told my wife I am sick of buying new stuff and having to modify it to work. Nice to see others solving issues like this.

I just ordered these carbon seat backs that were recommended in another thread 1) because they look great but 2) because I’m thinking the gloss surface might allow for suction mounted iPad holder.

I’ll report back here if it works.
