m50i ride quality

Hello all,
Curious to hear from current m50i owners about ride quality. Just picked up my X5M50i 2 weeks ago, already have 1300 mi on it and love the handling/acceleration but am left a bit disapointed by the ride quality over uneven pavement. Even in comfort, seems a little "unsettled"/bouncy and never truly smooth unless road is glass flat. For reference, I'm on stock 20' RF Pirelli all season tires. I'm coming from a 2017 benz E 400 wagon which was fairly smooth and obviously a completely different kind of vehicle. I've toyed with the idea of selling and buying another M50i with air suspension but I've heard several negative reports about loss of handling/dynamism and floatiness.

Looking forward to the collective wisdom of this forum-

Tires is your first remedy.

I got Michelin PS4 SUV - great tire and soft as butter. Not run flat - i drive a repair kit around. (or you can get a spare)

Winters are Michelin Pilot alpine 5 SUV - same soft and grippy.

Handling improved dramatically. Grip is great.

M sport suspension is not soft on BMWs. You still will feel the road - but that is why they corner.

I have no complaints with 21" wheels, but I do have DHP. I don't get any sort of unsettled feeling on bad pavement. Have you checked your tire pressure?

Great points above. Will check and make adjustments. I'm thinking a small change might be the trick.

The Bridgestones that come on some X5s are the most comfortable RFs. Air suspension is awesome and will make a huge difference in ride comfort over uneven pavement but if you don't want to trade in then the Bridgestones will help some.

I'm really pleased with the 20" Bridgestone All Season that come with the G05. I was expecting to have to swap them out immediately for go flats, but the stock tires are good enough to wait until they wear out.

Swap the tires. Stock is horrible on most cars. I just ordered Michelin CrossClimate suv but on my GLE I had Michelin defender. Performance was night and day compared to stock. I'll report back when I swap and can use them a bit

Love the firm but compliant ride qualities with even the RF on 20“ M wheels.

I have 21inch pirellis and having an E class with 19inch run flats, I feel this car rides smoother. Check tire pressure and alignment; my alignment was off and that significantly improved my ride quality. I think also getting adjusted to a bigger car with a higher center of gravity might give the impression that the ride quality / handling is poor.

Change the tires.
