Can you make it so when it's in park the suspension lowers for easy exit/entry and then raises after the vehicle is started and put in gear? This is how the wife's XC90 does it and works well.

That would be a nice feature but unfortunately there is no such option. I'll share a tip that someone posted elsewhere, put your X7 in Sport mode as you're nearing your home or destination and it will lower partway. Then the last little bit you need to lower it manually will be quicker.

BMW engineers, please take note of this request. This is a feature that many owners would appreciate. The new Mercedes GLS with Active Body Control can be configured to automatically lower when the engine is shut off. Mercedes had the forethought to include such an option, seems like a reasonable request for the BMW engineers to offer the same.

What Joe said. Yeah, I don't get it either--this is something we all here have asked for, for quite a while. I want the option to be able to program a particular suspension height, that the vehicle will adjust to automatically, every time the ignition is turned off. Shouldn't be cosmic.

Every other luxury car manufacturer has this option. Put it in park and turn off the ignition and it should lower the car to the lowest setting. Or, it should be programmable.

Get with the program BMW!

The number 1 issue I have with this vehicle.....

The kids are finally understanding they can’t open the doors right away to get out but still frustrating as hell!

I wanted to add to your observation. It is unclear to me why the BMW engineers felt it unsafe to continue lowering the car when doors are open. It lowers so slowly it appears more than safe to allow it to continue lowering even while doors are open.

If BMW does plan on making this change, is this something that ca be done via software update? This is how it works with Tesla, so wondering if it is the same.

Coding? If you can code the radio to turn off when you open the door, maybe you can code the suspension to lower when the door opens and/or the ignition is turned off....

Please BMW, if you're listening, can't we get this in the next update?

I think part of the issue/problem is that lowering takes some time .. as in it’s not instant like shutting the radio. So does raising. So every time any door opened it will start to lower (like dropping a kid in the rear) and they jump out and shut the door then it will start raising again.

Perhaps when you put it in park or shut it off it could start lowering in anticipation.

I would love this feature to be added to an update or coding work around. I've gotten to the point where I've mastered lowering this beast when getting ready to stop. I actually start backing it into the garage less than 3 mph and start the lowering process while I'm creeping back.

My issue is my wife either opening the door before it completes the loading cycle or she stays in the car putting on makeup and I'm starting to walk away from the car. …..then the alarm goes off when she opens the door because I'm very impatient because she could've been putting on her makeup during the 30 min ride 🤬😡😂

Nothing more annoying than someone opening the door and interrupting the process after you thought you’d sneak in a car lowering 😂😂😂😂

Weird. When we tested an X7 at dealer in Schaumburg, IL and after test once car got shut down it lowered for easier exit/entry. We bought ours but didn't found this feature

That isn't the X7 lowering to its lowest setting automatically to help with exit/re-entry. That is just the air suspension going into some type of "parked" mode. I have seen this behavior before and thought something similar. My guess is that it is relieving excess/reserve air pressure that is not needed when the car is parked, thus helping to preserve life of the system.

While I did not break out a tape measure, this "parked height" appears to be somewhere between "Comfort/Normal" and "Sport" ride heights. If you actually lower the car to its lowest setting using the switch on the center console (before you open the doors to exit the X7), you will notice that the X7 is lower to the ground than if you had not used the switch.

I have an XC90 and test drove an X7 and found the height when getting out to be pretty annoying. The auto lowering on the XC90 is a great feature that I hadn't even realized was so convenient. I'm sure it can somehow be added if they wanted to.
