Sadly the problems have started...

520 miles on the clock and this morning the check engine light came on...

Scanned the car through the OBDII and get errors 190302 and FF1903 for DME. Couldn't find any info on FF1903 but 190302 seems to be related to a NVLD Tank Leakage, there is a service bulletin F25 amongst many other F series vehicles but I couldn't find any mention on it related to the G01 or F97, guess I am the first...

And yes, I did check the gas cap a dozen times...

Time to bring the brand new X3 M for service, doesn't really scream good QC at this point...

Update 1: tried to reset the CEL and error memory with BimmerLink and it failed, light is still on. It is interesting that yesterday the fault showed as currently present but today it shows as up as not currently present yet CEL is still on... Have to wait until Monday to see what service finds...

Probably active grill shutters. Or shitters I should say. They all break on the G-series cars.

Luckily, M cars don't have active grille shutters.

The F97 does not have active grill shutters and the codes are definitely ventilation line w/leak diagnosis module which has a history and even a TSB on a lot of F series models but there is no reports on the newer models; sadly if it is not a malfunctioning module it could mean an actual leak on the fuel lines and/or gas tank

Damn there seem to a lot issues reported against the relatively small population of X3M owners here.

I took it in for service a few months ago and they ran diagnostics and a firmware update. They think most likely the gas cap was not properly closed and after I checked it and re-closed it it fixed the problem but it takes a couple of days for the error to clear.

Hasn't happened since and no other issues so far, although there is a recall due on it for something to do with an oxygen sensor.

I just can't get my fuel consumption to improve but that's entirely my fault for playing with the exhaust burbles while laughing like a psycho

Welcome to the club. This SUV evokes giddy laughter to the driver and sheer terror to most passengers. Enjoy your ride!

It’s just sample bias — no known flaws with the S58 and my car has been a beast since taking delivery. We’ll see with time, but things look good so far.

Likely NVLD pressure switch. Check with dealer to see if there is a warranty extension. Btw if you have a 2016 X3 it's not an F97/F98 that this thread is posted in.
