XM3C delivered w Continental ContactSport 6

I recently picked up my XM3C and noticed it was fitted with Contact Sport 6. Is this the case for others who have taken deliver in recent weeks?

BMW are using Michelin and Continental tyres. Both tyres are excellent. In my case I have the continentals and picked up my car last week. I live in the UK.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. About half the dealer stock I see has Michelin and the others have Conti. Mine has the Michs.

I've got the Continentals. When I asked the dealer he said they fit whatever they have at the time of production. Not sure how true that is.

Good to know. From what I read the conti black chili compound is a bit less jarring to the ride while sacrificing very little on performance side.

Don't know if it's coincidence or not but when I browse listings online it seems like most of the X3Ms have the contis and x4ms have the michellins.

BMW does it to manage risk. What if one manufacturer has a production problem and can't deliver tires. To mitigate this risk you get multiple manufacturers to make the same size tire.

Also from a costing perspective not be tied to one vendor makes far more sense.

Mine came with the MPS4S and it's a far better tires. Look at the awards and reviews, it speaks for it self.

Yes the MP4s are considered the gold standard in the class however, the conti sportcontact 6 are so new with new compound i'm curious to see how they stack up and how they wear.

My x3m came with the ps4’s. I have a non comp but it had the 21” orbit grey wheels
It’s all luck of the draw from what I read. I think either way you can’t go wrong. I highly doubt bmw is going to engineer a machine like the x3m (or any other m car for that mater) and put rubber on it that doesn’t meet certain criteria

Non m cars might be another story tho. IIRC my 2017 x5 has Goodyear’s on it or something

When at the dealership shopping for a new X3M, about 1/2 of them had the Conti and the other half the Michelin. It did not matter if it was an X3M or X3MC. The wife's new X3MC had the Conti tires. But as they are summer only it is now getting Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires put on it. Will just have to wait until spring to see how the Conti tires are. LOL

I'm not happy with the Conti's would have preferred MP4S's and will change to them as soon as these die.

I've got the Continentals too. Given the mileage I do, unless I'm unfortunate to get a puncture, I could quite possibly be on the same tyres when I sell the car.

I just like how Conti's wear, had them on Merc's and the outer 3 inches which already from new is only 4-5mm scrubs quickly. You don't get that on MP4S's and I think that MP4S's have better grip, but time will tell as I've never used Conti's on a BMW.

Conti has softer compound and will wear slightly quicker. Again all subjective on how you drive, how much you drive, how you look after etc I’m happy with both brands

I agree PS4S last very well, I had the previous CSC5 and PS4S on my F80 M3, the CSC5 had a much better handling balance and sharper front end bite than the PS4S but they had more traction/grip on the rear and wore less but not night and day different to the CSC5.

I won't be bothered what the car comes with when I pick it up, a lot of people rave about the PS4S because they swap out of Potenza RFT on their cooking BMWs and that has given them a bit of a halo effect but that doesn't speak to the other UHP tyres available.
