Run in service

I have taken my X3 mc in for its run in service, they said it will be ready at 4pm I just had a call from them to say they have got the wrong transmission oil so I will have to leave it with them till they get the right one. Better be tomorrow

*Exactly* the same thing happened to me which was annoying. RIS was £489 but I opted for the service plan at £45/month so this was covered under that. Funny, this is my first M car and my salesman never mentioned the need for a RIS. Audi RS cars never had this - seems like robbery to me ...

Is the charge for the break in service unique to the UK?

Got mine done in Shrewsbury last week, paid £391 after a bit of light haggling.

Did your dealer confirm the ECU update.

I ask because some members have had their cars stopped from being released due to an ECU issue but apparently BMW have not found a fix yet.

Cheers Steven

After lots of driving this week my car is at 1100 miles and I'm booked into Sytner on Tuesday.

It was a negotiated £440 until I decided to go for the service plan.

Annoyed they're doing a software upgrade as I'll lose my coding!

Can wait to do a launch control after the service though

Has anyone had a RIS after the 5th and has their car held?

Looks like there is a Stop Release for all cars registered after 5th Dec. It is not a safety recall but a performance issue related to On Board Diagnostics not lighting up warning based on data from an Oxygen sensor. Sounds like the fix could be expensive for BMW if the warning is inadvertently ignored hence they have put the stop release in place for new registrations. Currently the fix is assumed to be SW but is not determined/completed so no immediate fix.

Wondering if anyone who has had a RIS from 6th hasn't had their car returned?

for those that have gone for the service pack what’s actually included? is it 3 years?

RIS, 1st oil and brake fluid change?

assuming the expensive 4 year with plugs isn’t included on this cost?

i’m doing a max of 6k pa and trying to work
out if it’s better to get the plan or not but i don’t feel it’s worth it

i’m going off my old m135 service intervals of every 24months or 18k

There is no service pack just a monthly service plan £45 per month, didn't seem to be worth while to me.

Once you sit down and work it out it makes a lot of sense. It's more of a discounted savings plan where you get cheaper servicing and it's transferrable to another new BMW if you sell your car.

Basically it's saving me quite a bit over the 3 years. The car has 15k service intervals and as I do 10-12k per annum I'll likely need the major service which de-risks the plan even more for me. It includes everything including plugs.

I've got the maths on a PM somewhere so I can dig out if needed.

is it just unlimited time scale then so technically as long as i own the car so it would cover ally eh services or is it for 3 years?

if the major is at around 30k i will never get to that in the 3 year timescale
