Comfort Access - Boot

Does anyone else find opening the boot with a wave of the foot rarely works?

The dealer tried it on handover and it took ages for it to work. I'm experiencing the same thing every time.

I must admit it’s hit and miss with me. I tend to flick my leg quickly QTR way across the bottom and this seems to work more often than not.

It's got two sensors so your leg and foot both need to come towards the car at the same time directly under the logo in a swift motion. I followed the instructions in the manual and had a bit of a practise and now I get it every time.

It's a swift kick with the leg not a foot waggle, works every time once you do that.

Agree - swift kick. Make sure you kick closer to the centre, and with your foot higher up, so close to the bumper. Swift kick in and out and it's pretty effective. Slow or too low and you end up looking like a muppet when nothing happens.

Didn’t even know this was on the car, so all X3M’s with comfort Access have this?

This is my steps, and it has been 99% successful.

1. Stick in my foot under the rear bumper.
2. Let it stay there for about 0.5 seconds.
3. Pull your foot back quickly.

With Comfort Access, you can open and close using that motion. So, if your hands are full with stuff to carry. Do the same thing and it will close the trunk.

Garage List
at least on the F80, I had good success by waving my foot underneath the bumper, and then stepping back. the sensors need to “see” that the kick was intentional and not some random object that happens to be dangling underneath the bumper.

i could be making all this up but it’s what worked for me with absolutely no issues.

It's really simple, it's a kick:
