Thumbs up Does anyone have the scoop on the taxes?

I ordered my M3 Convertible through military sales but it will be new because I didn't have time to drive it. Once it arrives in the U.S., what taxes will I have to pay? It will be registered at the base before it is shipped and some people say if it is registered at the Base it will cost less when it gets to the U.S.

Also, there is the Gas Guzzler Tax. Do I pay this?

Can anyone clarify this for me, between the duty, GGT, state tax, luxury tax, etc.? Thank you.

If you financed it, the applicable taxes should be added to the total amount. My sales tax was about $4,200. The gas guzzler tax is separate as it is a federal tax. That's $1k for the M3.

Snip
How Much is the Gas Guzzler Tax?

Vehicles that get at least 22.5 mpg (combined) don't have to pay the Gas Guzzler Tax. The Tax rate goes from $1,000 for vehicles that get at least 21.5 mpg (combined), but less than 22.5 mpg (combined) all the way up to $7,700 for vehicles that get less than 12.5 mpg (combined).
