Useful/Cool Interior Mods for Beginner

Hi all,

I have a 2015 alpine white 428i Coupe with M Sport package, aluminum hex interior trim with Estoril blue highlights. I have just started looking into modifying my car, and wondering if you guys have any recommendations for interior projects.

I know it's quite common, but I personally don't want to add any carbon fiber pieces. Any feedback on the M Performance pedals? Feel free to suggest more.

Thanks!

Have a look to the DIY-section, plenty of tuts and ideas.

Other than some coding to get the most of what is already there ( video unlock, etc) there really isn’t much to improve on the 15... especially if you have NAV already.

Mod the light switch for rear fogs maybe?

The non OEM (aka Amazon) brake and throttle M pedals are worth it and work well. They are both cheaper and easier to install and (IMO) look better than the official drill ons. They do reduce the depth difference between the brake and throttle pedal which is nice side effect.

I also converted my 2015 f31 Msport (9/14 build date) to the LCI ac panel and illuminated trim piece ( got used off a wrecked car) to get white daylight ac display and the ambient lighting at night. Recommend unlinking the ambient from the dash illumination control via coding so you can adjust each to your liking.
I’m currently in the midst of a project to convert those cheap blue/orange China b pillar ambient retrofits to correct white/orange so I can install those just for funsies and to have something to do.

The under-glovebox socket with a 2.1 amp (unlit of course) usb socket in it and 6 ft charging cable for passenger’s low on phone battery I have done...

Only thing more I can think of would be some tint or rear seat window shades. That is all I really feel would be useful.
While there are mods for mods sake, (silver light switch stick on trims) and mods for ricers sake (blue stick on speaker rings come to mind) nothing much I’m interested in aside fr9m the above.

Thank you! Good to get another assurance that the no-still pedal cover is more recommended than OEM ones. And will look into the lighting stuff

Opposite experience for me, wasn’t about to spend a couple hours drilling and fitting OEM (probably crookedly) when the slip ons take 5 minutes and look this good.

Hate how stock MSport have 3 different patterns and materials for the 3 pedals.

WTH should take couple of hours drilling? Take a sharp driller, put on the brakepedal part an make the hole marks by driller. Hence the material is a bit more strength, the driller has more to do but thats it. Gaspedal is made from plastic, just a hot needle would do the holejob at any cost. This is done in less than 20 mins.
Nevermind, but the slip ons for me are pure trash, they shouldn't just look good, they should be safe into all situations.

Look through the Kies Motorsports YouTube videos for interior ideas. He's done wrapping of interior pieces with carbon fiber. I've seen guys at car shows mimic that with other colors and materials to really customize their interior at very low cost.

You are aware the factory brake pedal cover is a slip on, right?
The throttle cover isn’t going to come off and the brake sure as hell isnt.

I thought the same. The sub $20 to spend on those pedals was worth the gamble and I'm super happy with them. If they start to wear or look bad, you can have 6+ sets before you approach OEM pedal money.

Whadd'ya talkin' about?
The brake pedal comes stock with a big rubber slip-on cover installed over its metal plate. You have to remove that, point on the 3 necessary holes for the M pedal cover and drill them. Put on the replacement and tighten the screws.
The throttle pedal gets just covered with the M-pedal cover but got additional fixed with 2 small bolts. Therefore you have to drill it too.

Yeah, for the the amazon brake cover, you also remove the factory brake cover and install it instead. It doesn’t go over the factory cover, it replaces it, so No safety issue there.
And the throttle pedal slip on is nice and tight.
I understand the concern,I had the same concern myself. But it’s not a valid one.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but BimmerCode (app) plus a Bluetooth OBD2 module will add conveniences, cool factor, and other benefits to any BMW. I highly recommend reviewing the forum and YouTube for coding examples.

If you have the ambient light package, these are pretty cool. I have them on my car:

My F32 actually does not have any headliner handles. Wondering how any F32 owner store their sunglasses.
