German sense of humour?

Arrived at the Sixt counter this morning to collect my hire car in Frankfurt. Booked for a 1-series or similar. Which means....

What a car!!

Sounds about right, which is possibly why their M-way death rate is twice ours! Not so much the big fast cars but the small slow ones that pull out without seeing them coming.

Sixt have been very good at upgrades over many years, once got a 5L Merc of some description, instead of a Golf. Great.

Aaahh you may well have had winter tyres on....which wont have been rated for those speeds? All rentals tend to have them fitted this time of year...hence it may not have suckered down as much...

Bloody hell. First time I’ve heard anything positive about Sixt experience.

Just hope they don’t try and sting you for it.

Bloody excellent upgrade by the way.

To be honest I can’t fault them. Although I hire 60+ times a year with them and our company many many hundreds maybe thousands... never had an upgrade like this though!

Hmm, it's the slow cars fault that could be doing 70, 100 plus mph less than the quicker one.

It's the fast cars responsibility to anticipate. And I don't care what anyone says, boring or not, cars and trucks doing speeds with such a large differential, has to be dangerous.

A German walks into a bar...

He goes up to the bartender and asks for a martini. "Dry?" the bartender asks. "Nein." says the German. "Just one for now.”

Yes, I didn't word it very well. The slow vehicle pulling out tends to be the immediate cause of the accident, but the underlying cause is mixing very high and low speeds on the same stretch of road.

My (limited) experience of the autobahn is that even when giving it some welly, it's quite easy to get taken by surprise.

Mind you, I've had the same thing on the M45 recently

Going off topic a bit but the Green party in Germany recently put a motion down to make 130kph a general limit. It was voted down.

Having spent many many years driving and living there I noticed a change once the country was reunited and open boarders across Europe. Just because a car has a German plate it does not mean it's being driven by someone who took the German test. My wife shes a Brit btw took her test in Germany and the standard is a lot higher. So many hours of Night driving, Motorway driving, basic car maintenance tests and written tests to name a few. Just like here the standard of people and there type of driving has got worse over the years.

What should you do if a German accosts you in the street?

Just call "Nein, nein, nein".

My German girlfriend likes to rate our sex between 1-10.

Last night we tried anal, she kept shouting 9!

The M45 is a great road for a blast, as far as I know there are no speed cameras (unless anyone can say otherwise).
