Cleaning oil and coolant leak

Hi everyone,
I am in the process of trying to change the oil filter housing gasket (non oil cooler) and I couldn't get the bottom e10 bolt out of the housing so I took the coolant hose off that's next to it and the of course the flange broke.. I didn't know how much coolant was going to come out and it was a lot.... Sooo now I have coolant and oil all over my belt and the front of my motor.
Can I pressure wash the front wall of my motor? This would obviously include the belt and the pulleys.
Is there a better way to clean it up?
Thanks for the help, can't say this is going very good so far.

Too late now, but it's best to cover the belt and all pulleys with plastic before taking things apart.
You can use a can of brake cleaner to clean up or pressure wash using care to cover electronics, alternator etc.
If the flange that broke is what I'm thinking, you can repair with this:
DEF 11537541992 Water Hose Fitting Replacement for BMW 335i 11537541992 11537544638 N54 N53 N52 engines

Yes that would have been a good idea, it's unfortunately looking like I'm going to have to bring it the shop after all. The bolt I was trying to get to seems to be stripped, my e10 socket keeps coming off of it. Not sure what to do about it besides have a pro look at it.

So taking a power washer to the pulleys and belt won't mess anything up?

is the OFH off?

if so, then don't go spraying water in the engine bay.

if the engine is sealed it's fine.

an e10 ratchet wrench is the ticket for that bottom bolt.

take a photo of your boogered bolt. Have you tried hammering on an undersized socket?

Ofh is currently on, the bolt is stopping me from removing. I will upload a picture of it, the edges are just worn down on the bolt. I could try hammering a 8 or 7mm socket onto it. I'm going to let the bolt soak in penetrating fluid for a while also.

As far as washing it goes, I was just concerned about any wires or if the pulleys would get damaged. The ofhg has been leaking a while so there is a lot of built up oil and crud on there.

This just happened to me. Struggled with the same bolt and plastic flange for the coolant hose. You can easily get your bolt out yourself with proper kit. New bolt will be easy to install as long as you have proper universal swivle socket tool and short stub e10 socket. Be careful not to strip this bolt it is the hardest to get off and on.
Against what everyone will say just remove the intake manifold . You will be able to take off ofhg and is not hard at all.

I've heard removing the fan can give way more room as well I would start their. These engine bays are cramped so don't stress yourself by trying to work around it !!
Just spend the extra 5 minutes to remove a few extra parts to give breathing room.

I struggled with getting that thing off for a good hour or so. I eventually thought of using the box-end of a short wrench and BOOM. Why didn’t I think of it in the first place? Taking the fan out wasn’t required either. Can’t quite remember what size wrench it was. 11/16?

wobble extensions.
look them up.
far superior to universals. a 6" wobble extension gets you in there perfectly with no fuss.

e10.

that's the correct size. you really risk rounding torx fasteners if you use regular 12 point junk on them.

this is exactly the wrench I bought for the job.

I removed nothing in the engine bay except the OFH.

Thanks for the reply, I have the manifold unbolted and moved to the side right now. The top two bolts were no problem but the darn bottom one is driving me nuts. I can get my e10 socket and wrench on it but the bolt head is damaged a bit from improper sockets rounding it out. I'm going to give it another shot with the e10 but if that doesn't work I may hammer on a smaller socket.

You didn't have to remove the air box or manifold? That sounds pretty nice, it took me a while to remove all that stuff would be nice to not have to do that again.

Agree. Made this so, so easy. I also bought the E10 1/4" Snap-on wobble joint. The snap-on tool is super useful for doing all the bolts on the VC repair, too.
