New car

So I’ll be graduating college this year and I’m thinking of replacing my car, although it seems like it’s going to be tough getting rid of it considering how much fun this thing is to drive. It’s a 6mt 2013 E92 335i m-sport. I’ve done no exterior mods but I’ve gone with the mhd/Jb4, vrsf catless downpipe, ETS charge pipe, BMS intake, and a side sticker that adds about 15whp of course. Anyway, this thing feels like is has about 400hp and more torque than that. I’ve never done a DYNO so I wouldn’t know. I really can’t decide what I should get that can compare to this thing. Something under 40k with tax. My friends have the newer m3’s in DCT and although they’re fun to drive and handle significantly better than my car, the steering just didn’t do it for me. My car just feels more like a bmw if I must say, I can’t really describe it. So the only thing I could think of is a stick M240i, m2, or a Subaru wrx Sti and do some mods to it as well (I know, seems crazy). If you made it through this post I salute you, I’m always reading on here and figured I could make a post for once.

You can still find low mileage 335i's.. That's my vote.

You never said why you need a new car first of all. You might want to wait a few years and save some money.

You have a car that seems to run well, no maintenance issues and within your budget. You said a friend bought an M3 and it sounds like you’re a little envious so you want something new. I would keep the car and enjoy the disposable income while you can. What will your student loan payments look like, new car payments or other expenses?

This is sound advice.

One could argue that the e92 335i Msport with 6MT is a much better drivers car than all of the ones you listed. The only exception might be the M2 in some cases. The 335i also has a lot of modding potential.

Everyone knows Subarus are chick cars.

The stick M240 is pretty dang fun. Otherwise, I'd just keep the current whip

You’re correct. You know you’re right, I’ve been used to switching out cars every 3 years and I’ve had this car a little longer. Could be that I’ve just been conditioned to do this. I still love my car, maybe I shouldn’t consider anything new for now.

I think I’m taking my car for granted from these replies. Maybe my best option is to just continue doing things to my current. I think saving up for the m2 comp would be a good route to take.
A lot of my friends are also from high school (Calabasas). That may help understand their situation haha

I really love that m2 comp. In my experience they’re not even chick cars. I don’t think I’ve encountered one girl, whether a girlfriend or just friend, that approves of one. Not that I really care but the feedback is interesting

I forgot to mention that my car actually went out of the CPO last year. The car hasn’t caused me any absurd issues (knock on wood). I had a leaky valve cover gasket (CPO) but the electric water pump failed a few months ago and I had to pay out of pocket for that. The transmission was also swapped at 33k miles, when I got the car, due to a grind in second gear. So it’s a pretty new transmission.

And although I do envy those cars I don’t think it’s really influencing me to want a new car, it never really has. These boys have had m4’s and m3’s since they were 17 so I’ve been used to being around that. My main reason for wanting a new car is change of scenery, but I’m starting to thing what I have now is definitely good enough and I’m taking it for granted

Thankfully I don’t have any loans or car payments. Getting a new car would create some monthly payments

I apparently dont know my e9x platform well at all, but I swear 2013s were F series, unless it was an iS.

That being said, id keep the car, i dont know why youd sell it unless you just didnt want it anymore.

You would be correct on the sedans but all the coupes (328, 335, M3) ran through 2013.

Did the F series start in 2011 and the E series end in 2013? So in those years you could have either one in the 335I?

Yes both F and E series have the N55 2011 and after, I'm just saying this info if n54 vs n55 is important.
