Retrofitting pre-LCI paddle shifters to an LCI E90
Has anyone done this? I have a 2011 with no paddles installed from factory. I found a lot of information going from modifying LCI paddles to work on pre lci cars, but none going the other way? Also, if i were to get LCI paddles would they plug and play easier?

retrofitting paddle shift.
I have 2006 330i and I retrofitted paddle shift to my 330i.
1. you need to buy or make the harness. I bought mine from Burger motorsports. Install the harness. 2. On my sport steering wheel, I cut the back rubber piece of my steering wheel where the paddle shift would mount or you can buy M3 steering wheel and paddles. It seem all steering wheels have paddle shift mount. You just need to cut away the rubber where the paddle shift mounts on the back of steering wheel. 3. I installed bunch of washers to fit the Pre Lci paddle shift.( I went cheap) Pre Lci paddle shift work differently than Lci paddle shift. i think that is pretty much it, if I remember correctly. for details, you can search the E90post. |

Thanks for the response. I have a pre-lci wheel paddle shift wheel installed right now, but my car is an lci. I am wondering if the wiring is the same as all of the diys talk about either using prelci paddles to prelci cars or lci paddles to prelci cars. I would be making the harness either way.
