What does the oil level read out look like when you are half a quart low?

What does the oil level read out look like when you are half a quart low?

Right now mine just shows a green engine and says the level is fine

On my 2008 BMW M3 it had a bar line that would show you if you are a quarter of a quart lower or a half a quart low

Are you referring to the digital dipstick? If so you should be able to access that via idrive. Also, it works the same way as a physical dipstick in that it measures the oil level between the minimum and maximum levels. So if it is half way between the two it does not mean you are low on oil but rather you have the correct amount. Anywhere above minimum but below maximum is where you want it.

Maybe I am doing it wrong , to check oil level it just shows a green engine and said oil level is full

My experience based on the e60 M5 is trust the electronic dipstick, do not top up, when the car tells you to add a liter add a liter -- no more, no less, and no sooner. I found the system to be flawless in that car for its entire 11 years with me.

My e90 m3 was very accurate. My e84 x1 2.8 showed full Regardless if it was a quart low or a quart over full…
