To change or not to change water pump and battery

2011 328 xi with 95 000 miles

Original water pump and original battery

No long cranks or funnt lights showing on dashboard. I took the car in to change brakes and the shop scanned it for water pump codes and nothing popped. Car is running mint

I was planning on replacing at least the water pump but the cheapo on me tells me if it aint broken dont fix it. I have spare car and caa coverage

I have read some people going well beyong 100k miles on original pump

What do u think guys??

The battery is a no brainier.
If it loses charge overnight .
The water pump is more of a comfort level question.
Just don't drive any farther when it goes.

You should be fine. I have a 2009 328 - replaced the battery a year ago - but it was having trouble holding a charge. It normally warns you when it starts going bad - so you have plenty of time. I am still on original water pump and thermostat and am in no rush to change. If it scans fine, my understanding some people with 328's get a very long from them. Just don't worry - nothing will harm the car. Just enjoy it.

if your battery is good, u shouldnt change it until it starts to give you problems.
As for your water pump, its a toss up. If you want to change to feel better you can. As for me, I changed mines out for comfort lol. Didnt want to be stuck on the side of the road. I also noticed, when i took mines out, it might have been changed already by previous owner. It wasnt plastic, it was metal waterpump. I bought the plastic one from BMW. If I read your post right, it seems that you have a backup car? if so, maybe wait until it needs to be changed?? owner preference...
