New belt and tensioner belt wobble on pulley

I just replaced my tensioner and belt with the contitech kit (ina tensioner and idler pulley) which finally cured my cold start chirping. I noticed my belt is running straight and good on everything except the new tensioner pulley. I drove 100 miles after and figured it would straighten itself out, but it only has a little bit.

Is this normal even after that much driving and will continue to straighten out or should I take the belt back off and just retry it or can I try and align it while taking a little tension out? Torqued new tensioner to 18ft lbs and marked the bolt and went 90 degrees. Idler was torqued to 30 ft pounds. As I said car drove fine all 100 miles tonight and was definitely not babying it on the last half of trip. Thanks.

I wouldn’t drive the car in that condition. The clip was short and didn’t get every angle. But you have a problem. It appeared like the belt was walking. It could walk off, and it could take the engine with it. You either got a belt or tensioner problem. I would put the old belt back on to see if it walks, if yes tensioner probably, if no belt problem.

Like I said tensioner and belt are brand new. That's the only place its moving. What am I supposed to do because I don't have another bolt for the tensioner need the car for work. I find it hard to believe a brand new tensioner would be shit out of the box, same with the belt.

You're sure its not an illusion due to the white printing on the belt? If it really it wobbling i would double check everything and maybe even replace the tensioner.

Seems like the new belt was the issue. This is the old belt and while it has slight movement its nowhere near as bad as the new one.

Doesn’t look too bad to me. You can loosen the tensioner and do small corrections of how the belt seat on the pulley.
