Interior noises and rattles
I have a 2011 335is, it is my 5th BMW and the 7th in my house with my wife's past x3 and current x5. By far it is has the most interior noise of all my BMW's which were a e36 328i, e46 330i, e46 M3 and my other e92. My 2009 e92 328xi has no interior squeaks or rattles unlike my 11 335is. I attribute some of the noise to fact that the car is on the factory 19's and with the support suspension (which has been completely updated in the last year now) and it's almost 10 years old. The firmer ride has taken its toll it seems. When on the bumpier overly used roads, it's as if every panel in the back seat area has a minor squeak or rattle to it. As we get to warmer weather, the windows will down most all of the time, but I would like to quiet it up before next fall. Has anyone dealt with this in the past that can't stand interior noise?
Every other BMW we have had has always been solid and quiet... Also, there were no previous accidents with this vehicle so I can't chalk it up to that.

I despise interior noises. My GF always makes fun of me for it because but for me, if i hear a creak or rattle, it means something is loose that isnt supposed to be loose.
Can't speak to the back seat itself personally, but if you find your trim pieces creaking at some point, I've had success with wrapping the mounting stud with a layer or two of electrical tape. My center console trim piece was making noise anytime i turned going uphill. Fixed it using that trick |

First of all you're not crazy, stupid annoying noises are something that slowly drives me mad too. The problem is figuring out what is causing it, I've tried to go down some rabbit holes chasing a noise to end up making it worse. Interior sections don't necessarily always bolt up as good as they did from the factory. After a few fails I've just learned to accept it if you want to run any sort of performance suspension and low-profile tires.

My '11 335is has this ANNOYING ass kind of like... creak or crunching I don't even know what word to use. It comes from the front right pillar or dash and it ONLY happens within like maybe ~ 2 degrees celcius and 15 celcius and will be so loud when I just swerve, turn or sometimes on roads. This year though I'm done, I need to find someone to drive my car and
Also passenger door rattle over bumps, thought it was door clips so put in brand new clips still does it. Again gotta find someone to drive and remove pieces one by one until it stops. I'm taking this shit to next level, I want my interior to be perfect, it's just hard to find someone you trust to drive your car and winter is ending and hearing that pillar noise is driving me crazy. |

My family still makes fun of me because back in the 90's I had a CRX si and it had a rattle in the back that was driving me nuts. I literally had the seats, headliner, interior panels and carpet out and spread out over the entire driveway. I finally fixed it but that effort was after 5 trips to the dealer and they couldn't figure it out. I don't have the time or energy for that now. I just want to hear the engine, intake, turbos, blow off valve and exhaust now.

These noises only seem to drive men mad. Women don't seem to notice.
My E93 has an annoying clunk on rough roads coming from somewhere on LH side, sort of just behind front seats. It sounds like the window regulator is loose and clunking against the body panel. Soooo, stripped out door card and rear quarter panel removed both windows and regulators broke several clips and lost skin, nothing obviously wrong - found the cable for the door handle made the same noise if I pinged it against the door - so wrapped a new piece of foam around it and stuck it in place with silicone..... put it all back together and its still EXACTLY the same. Noise seems to go away with roof down but that might just be that I cant hear it. Have checked every nut/bolt/cable to do with roof and its all screwed together really well. Ive just given up now - but it spoils the driving pleasure. Grrrrrrrr |

Nooo, I've had a weird rattling that happens at a certain speed range. Seems to be coming from inside my driver's side door, was gonna tackle it this weekend but your comment is so discouraging |
