My first BMW today! But need help identifying dash part
Hello
Purchased my first BWM today and super excited about this car. I noticed on the way home after taking delivery that a part was missing from what looks like a dash board sensor of some type, guessing a light or rain sensor but the cover appress to be missing and must have been nocked off during the cleaning. Could not find any info online and reaching out for some help to identify what part I need to order. Thanks in advance! |

Welcome and congrats!
I'd take it back to the dealer and let them know they knocked it off (assuming you purchased from a dealer). |

Welcome!
Realoem.com is your bible for identifying parts. Go there, enter your VIN and then save that as a favorite... you'll use it a lot On Realoem, enter your VIN, hit Browse parts and then go to Vehicle trim>Mounting parts, I-Panel, bottom. see #5 looks like 51457123748, It's on sale at ECS for $1.30: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/51457123748/ and 15 times more expensive here ($19.31 and free shipping) but Amazon includes the diagram: https://www.amazon.com/BMW-Genuine-S.../dp/B06Y4ZG2L3 you get to do the next one

Thanks so much for the prompt help with this, I would have taken it back to the dealer but that would have resulted in a 4 our round trip drive.
Thanks for the links pedro4u |

you're very welcome. But remember, it's now your turn to pay it forward and contribute / post the next time you solve an issue. That's what makes this site so great

Item 5 is a blank plate where the solar sensor goes for cars without auto HVAC. All US market cars have auto HVAC. What your issue is, is the cap to the solar sensor is missing, it probably got broken off. The solar sensor is under HVAC.

I ended up getting a compete solar unit for $10 with shipping to steal the cover from it or to replace what's in the dash all together. It appeared what was listed earlier was a blank plate to fill in the hole but the description helped me track down the actual electrical unit.
