Reprogram steering wheel controls with retrofitted iDrive CIC

I've got a pre-LCI 2008 E91 with a retrofitted CIC system (original CCC).

How can I reprogram the steering wheel buttons (specifically - the recirculate button - why is that on the wheel?!)?

I think on a regular car it'd be in iDrive somewhere in settings but I don't think it's there.
