Disable bi-xenon
I can't seem to find anywhere how to disable bi xenon on my FRM2, the shutter from the xenon is nowhere near as bright as the inner 'flash to pass' bulbs.
Can't seem to figure it out

Flash to pass should be the same function as high. Isn't it just one shield (per side) that moves out of the way. Probably an illusion from sudden change in output.

Mine are aftermarket, the inner bulb throws more light than the xenon high beams (shutter)

As far as brightness I wouldn't say the flash to pass is brighter. It does seem to cast down the center differently but the regular high beam does a much better job of illuminating everything but the center, lighting signs and deer hiding in the bushes, etc. I wouldn't think disabling for the center beam it is going to make it any safer. |

I'm totally interested in the video because my HID high beams are way brighter than my halogen ones. Even though i bought the supposed brightest Sylvania ultrastar or whatever they are called for the "high" beams

This must be possible. I have a pre-LCI (FRM 1) where pulling the stalk (flash-to-pass) is the halogen bulbs, not the bi-xenons.
I had it coded at one point to use the xenon's for flash-to-pass, but went back because unless they were already ignited, pulling the stalk would only move the shutter... I was probably missing some values that I needed, but it wasn't that important to me so I left it. I'm not sure if FRM2 presents a different challenge here. If not, coding it should be straightforward. (I can check what I changed for you if you'd like.)

I didn't think about that. I'm mainly trying to achieve this by coding. I'm considering that route as a last resort

Edit: After Clammy's fix, Im admittedly too lazy to code it back and make a video. Once again my headlights are aftermarket and were designed with both a shutter (to pair with cheap projectors) as well as a dedicated halogen high beam light. The halogens throw light much further, while the xenon's shutter spreads light to the sides more. Now with Clammy's fix, I have the best of both worlds!

In the NFRM, find the label PWM_FL_BEI_BIXENON and change both values to wert_01 This gives you the inner halogens, as well as the xenon high beams (shield lifted). It also maintains the inner halogens flash to pass function. Cheers! |

Ah! That would explain the absence of this option for me. Thanks for the info!

I would highly recommend upgrading to the NFRM. You can find used ones super cheap on Ebay (I did), and then just use WinKFP to code the VIN (I'm not even sure this is required to get it to work, but it's easy, and did it just to be safe), and away you go with NCS Expert. Cheers! |

Happy to help out. I've gotten SO much help from this forum, that it makes me happy to be able to give back, now and then!
Yeah, I think mine were wert_02 and wert_03. I'd found a document that said to change just wert_02 to wert_01. That did nothing. On nothing but a hunch, I tried changing them both, and BLAMMO! It worked perfectly! Cheers! |
