B46 Downpipe Install Help

Hey guys,

I recently bought a B46 catless downpipe, and I’m wondering how difficult it would be to do the install in my garage on my own. Does anyone have any instructions on how to do this for the B46? I took a peek in the engine bay and I can see what I’m working with, and I’m pretty sure that even without removing any under-panels, I can still reach the bolts necessary to remove the stock downpipe.

Has anyone on here done a downpipe install on their own? If so, can you give me your two cents on how I should go about installing it?

Gonna bump this old thread to add some insight from my recent install since there’s not a ton of DIY install info for B46 downpipe, and there are some differences from the B58.

From up top, you have to twist the O2 harness out of the bracket before you can disengage the plug and then loosen the turbo side v-clamp with a 13mm. You’ll need to use a screwdriver to open the clamp enough to remove it. Underneath the car you’ll need to remove the exhaust side v-clamp and the two 13mm bolts in the bracket that holds the OEM downpipe in place, the inner (driver side facing) bracket bolt is a bit of a stretch to reach. For me the removal took much longer than the install haha.

are the decats plug and play? as in no cutting of the oem exhaust?, reason i ask is in the UK our MOT is strict on decats, so being able to swap it in and out come MOT time would be ideal

No cutting necessary, it’s held in via bolts and v-band clamps.
