Left window down in RAIN please help!!!!
I left my window down and it rained for over an hour and it appears my door is discolored because of it. Is there anything I can do to fix this ???

I would be more worried about water accumulating in other places, out of sight, with electronic components. However, that's quite interesting for water to cause that so quickly. How does the texture feel? Is it swollen at all?
My local BMW dealership said they can redye certain bleached or faded parts of the interior, I'd look to see if that is an option. If you'd like I can ask them what the name of the product they use. |

I'll give them a call today and see what they say. I still find that really odd- I've gotten that same part of my door rained on/ soaked once or twice and haven't had an issue (yet lol).
I wonder what happened. Oddly enough, some plastics on our 235i were starting to show very similar bleached splotches and were replaced under warranty, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out exactly what happened. Last edited by JonOhh; 03-23-2020 at 01:00 AM.. Reason: added more detail |

How long has it been?
I had a water bottle leak onto my seat (leatherette) and it looked exactly the same. The next day it had dried and was back to normal. Please do NOT use Goo Gone on your door panel.

Oh shit that was probably me. I was 12 out of 10 zooted from the giant rock I had just smoked when I stumbled into your car. I braced myself with my pipe hand, causing rain to wash through it and directly into your open window.

Just open the window again when it rains and let it fully change color

Great gig - the cause AND the solution.

Honestly not sure because last night it was fully dried and didn't go away for over 20 minutes dry but after it sat over night it was all gone totally weird

Haha I knew when I read the post about it being better the next day I was probably fine and stopped stressing 👍 however I am really curious as to the science behind why this reacts in this way and is all of a sudden better by morning 🧐

Probably has more to do with the surface dressing/oils than the leather or leatherette itself.
